Our Programs –
Beach Park School prepares its students academically,
socially, and emotionally for a lifetime of discovery.
Beach Park School’s Montessori program provides each child with a tailored, quality experience that stimulates a curiosity to learn and explore. In addition to art, music and Spanish, experiences focus on gross motor activities, social skills and practical life. A Montessori classroom setting allows younger students to watch and learn from their older peers while older students develop their patience and leadership skills by assisting younger students.
“Practical life” begins as soon as a child enters Beach Park School and continues throughout their education. For Primary students, practical life lessons involve skills like buttoning, zipping, sweeping, and pouring without dropping or spilling.
As students mature, practical life lessons include: maintaining a checkbook, how to run a small business, public speaking, and mastering test taking strategies. Practical life skills help students achieve a key Montessori goal- to develop independence and a strong and realistic sense of self-reliance.
Montessori classes are mixed age:
3 – 6 year olds – Primary
1st – 3rd grades – Lower Elem.
4th – 6th grades – Upper Elem.
7th – 9th grades – Secondary Program
A Montessori classroom setting allows younger students to watch and learn from their older peers while older students develop their patience and leadership skills by assisting younger students.
Everything in the Montessori classroom has a place. Materials are organized to create a logical order for students. Children are placed at the center of the classroom environment while learning is guided by the teachers. Classes at Beach Park School have a student/teacher ratio of 12 to 1 or better.
